Are you looking for the perfect location where you can explore Pittsburgh’s most iconic neighborhoods? Whether you are in town for business or pleasure, the following six locations offer unique sights and features that are sure to make your stay memorable. 

Note: We have provided transit directions for each location (besides Bloomfield) from the Convention Center.

North Shore

This vibrant neighborhood offers plenty of attractions along its waterfront parks and trails. Take in the breathtaking views of downtown Pittsburgh while exploring PNC Park or Acrisure Stadium. If you like art or science, check out The Andy Warhol Museum and Carnegie Science Center. Enjoy great shopping and dining options, alongside live music venues and riverside trails. From the convention center, catch the T at Wood St. Station and ride to Northside Station.

South Side

The South Side is one of the most popular areas in town due its lively atmosphere filled with restaurants, bars and shops. Some of Pittsburgh’s best shopping options exist on Carson Street. While there, visit the Carson Street Deli & Craft Beer Bar which features over 500 craft beers and delectable sandwiches. Carson Street is also known for its night time atmosphere, so unwind from a long day at the APTA Rail Conference with some music or refreshments. Shop at SouthSide Works, home to more than 50 shops and one of the most unique retail experiences Pittsburgh offers. From the convention center, catch the 48 bus at Wood St. & 6th Ave. and ride to E. Carson St. & 26th St.

Oakland

Home to the University of Pittsburgh’s main campus and Carnegie Mellon University, this bustling neighborhood also houses many cultural gems like the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. Located in Schenley Park, Phipps is the perfect location for those interested in an outdoor adventure with its lush gardens and breathtaking plants. Schenley Park is also a great area to walk and take in the beautiful Pittsburgh landscape. The Carnegie Museum of Art is a contemporary art museum that features permanent collections of paintings, sculptures and more. From the convention center, catch the 61A, 61B, 61C, or 61D at 6th Ave. & Smithfield St. and ride to Forbes Ave. & Bellefield St. 

Strip District

The Strip District is renowned due its wide selection of food spots serving everything imaginable, whether it be traditional Polish cuisine or classic Italian dishes. Filled with cultural history, the Strip District has several local markets where visitors can find fresh produce, handmade items and specialty foods from around the world. Take a stroll through these popular marketplaces for an authentic taste of Pittsburgh’s diverse culinary scene. The Strip District is an ideal place to wrap up the evening before heading back home. From the convention center, catch the 86/87/88/91 at Liberty Ave. opposite 11th St. and ride to Liberty Ave. & 17th St.

Lawrenceville

Venture into Lawrenceville, one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city with charming streets lined with brick buildings, colorful murals and adorning walls. Lawrenceville is full of thriving businesses like vintage clothing stores along Butler Street and galleries showcasing both local artists' work and visiting exhibitions. This area also has an array of craft breweries worth checking out, so don't forget to check out these breweries and other must-see locations in Lawrenceville when planning your itinerary. From the convention center, catch the 91 bus at Liberty Ave. opposite 11th St. and ride to Butler St. & 38th St.

Bloomfield

Right next to Lawrenceville, Bloomfield is known to many as a historic Italian-American neighborhood. Home to Little Italy Days, this area has a variety of restaurants that everyone can enjoy. Stroll down Penn Avenue and witness an eclectic array of independent shops and eateries. From vintage clothing stores to delicious dining spots, there’s something in Bloomfield that will please everyone’s palates.
