Technical Rail Tour
PRT is excited to invite you on a guided tour of the South Hills Village Rail Center.

During the 45-minute light rail trip to the facility, we will discuss our LRT system, fleet status, and maintenance practices. While at the facility, we will tour the Rail Traffic Operations Center (RTO) and Maintenance Facility (Carhouse). In the recently updated Carhouse, you will have an opportunity to tour Heavy Repair Maintenance, Wheel Truing, Pantograph Repair, Body Shop, Paint Booths, Blowdown Booths that will be under construction, HVAC Running Repair Maintenance, and Daily Servicing. We will have vehicles to examine both undercar equipment and roof mounted equipment, as well as highly trained maintenance staff for related questions.
Each tour time of the South Hills Village Rail Center can accommodate 60 participants. Tours last four hours and include lunch. Participants will receive a special 2023 APTA Rail Conference memento upon completing the tour. Tour times are listed below.

- 9:15 a.m. & 11:30 a.m.
- Wednesday, June 14:
- 10:30 a.m.
Your tour group will meet at Concourse C in the Convention Center. Please arrive 10-15 minutes before your posted tour time. This is an extensive walking site tour where participants will be entering maintenance facilities. Closed toe shoes are required and all participants will be given a safety vest to wear when entering PRT service facilities.
Wheelchair accessibility is available on all vehicles and when touring the facilities.
