Transportation Options

Pittsburgh Regional Transit (PRT) provides light rail, bus and Incline service to navigate Pittsburgh

Attending the APTA Rail Conference in Pittsburgh this year? Take advantage of PRT's convenient public transportation options. We offer light rail transit (LRT), bus and incline services that make it easy to explore the city. Upon registration, you will receive a complimentary 7-day pass to help you get around.

If you are staying in downtown Pittsburgh, take advantage of PRT's light rail Free Fare Zone for light rail transit, which extends from the North Shore to First Avenue Station.

The convenience factor makes riding PRT unbeatable; its extensive network covers most areas throughout Allegheny County, including downtown Pittsburgh. Plus, there are several helpful tracking apps available like TrueTime™, which gives riders access to real-time bus and light rail tracking information. TrueTime™ makes planning ahead simple and stress free.

Riding PRT also helps reduce traffic congestion in the city and surrounding communities by taking cars off the road — reducing air pollution and allowing people living near congested roads relief during peak travel times.

Transportation for Family Members

For any family members in attendance, using our services is an excellent way to save money while traveling around Pittsburgh. With fares starting at just $2.75 for a 3-hour pass on all three transportation options, getting from point A to point B does not have to break your budget. If you purchase a day Pass for $7, you can ride as often as you’d like during the same service day — making it easier on your wallet when exploring the city. Even better: children ages 5 and under ride for free.

Family members can purchase their passes at dozens of ConnectCard vending machines throughout the PRT system, online at rideprt.org (account required) or through the Ready2Ride™ mobile tracking app (account required).
